Beamer Pocket terms
Last updated 19-10-2026.
Beamer Pocket is the paid Beamer companion for iPhone, iPad and Android, sold by Kalkman, trading as Kalkman Code. The Beamer desktop app stays free and is not covered by this page. You buy Pocket through the App Store or Google Play, so the store’s own licence applies: Apple’s standard licence agreement on the App Store, and Google Play’s terms on Android. These terms sit alongside them and do not replace them.
What you get
Pocket is a one-off purchase at the price shown on the store. There is no subscription, no advertising and nothing to unlock inside the app. It is for your own personal use on devices you own or control, within what your store allows. A purchase on one store does not carry over to the other, so buying it on iPhone does not give you the Android version.
Every update I release for Pocket on your store comes at no extra charge. Pocket needs the Beamer desktop app on your computer, and each release says which desktop versions it works with. I cannot promise that it will keep working with every future version of iOS, Android or a desktop operating system, or that it will stay on sale forever.
Support
If something does not work, email me at hello@kalkmancode.co.uk with your phone or tablet, the Pocket version and the Beamer desktop version you are using. I am one person, so replies come from me, usually within a few working days.
Refunds
The store takes the payment, so the store handles refunds under its own rules. On the App Store, ask Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com. On Google Play, ask Google through your Play order history within 48 hours of buying. After that, email me and I will deal with it under Google’s rules and the law. I do not offer refunds beyond what the stores and the law already give you.
Your rights in the UK
If you buy as a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says Pocket must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to have it fixed or replaced. If that cannot be done, or does not happen within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, you are entitled to some or all of your money back.
Digital content normally carries a 14-day right to cancel. It ends once the download starts, if you agreed to that beforehand and accepted that you would lose the right, which is what the stores ask you to do. Apple’s own UK terms also describe a 14-day cancellation for App Store purchases, with the exceptions set out there. Nothing on this page takes away any right the law gives you.
The beta tester reward
People who test Pocket before launch get it free for life: one free copy on the store they tested on, the App Store for iPhone and iPad or Google Play for Android. If you tested on both, you get one on each. To qualify you need to stay in the beta programme until launch and send at least one report through it. A report saying something worked counts as much as one saying it broke. The reward never depends on a review or a rating.
It arrives as a promo code by email when Pocket launches on that store. The code gives you the normal paid app, with the same updates as anyone who bought it. Store codes expire if they are not used (Apple’s last four weeks), so redeem it when it arrives. A free copy covers Pocket only, not any other app I make.
Privacy
Pocket needs no account with me and sends me nothing in normal use. What it handles, and what I receive if you take part in the beta, is in the privacy notice.
Changes and governing law
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and a change never takes away something you have already paid for or a reward you have already earned. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
